BioFlorida's Northeast Chapter Event Hightlights Mayo Clinic
For immediate release
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (July 19, 2010) – The Northeast Chapter of BioFlorida, the statewide trade association for the bioscience industry, will host a networking event 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 28 in the Kinne Auditorium, Cannaday Building at the Mayo Clinic Florida. The event will showcase the impact the Mayo Clinic has on the Jacksonville area, and the life sciences industry as a whole, and include tours of the facility.
Dr. Ryan J. Uitti, associate medical director of development, and professor and chair of the Department of Neurology at the Mayo Clinic Florida, will give guests an in-depth look into the clinic’s life-changing research and interesting clinical trials underway. His research focus has been in the progression of movement disorders, such as Parkinson’s disease, and in finding factors that predict long-term outcomes for those with the disease.
“This discussion will not only illustrate the abundance of clinical trials that take place in Northeast Florida, but also the direct economic impact that the Mayo Clinic has had on our region,” said Jonathan Cantor, Senior Project Manager at RS&H and co-chair of BioFlorida’s Northeast Chapter. “In addition, networking with others from this region’s life sciences industry will strengthen our understanding of Northeast Florida's assets in this arena, and how Jacksonville can build upon them in the future.”
Sponsors include AEI Affiliated Engineers; Cornerstone Regional Development Partnership; a private, nonprofit division of the Jacksonville Regional Chamber of Commerce; Nemours; and RS&H.
