TRDA HOSTS SMALL BUSINESS INNOVATION RESEARCH GRANT
WORKSHOP AT THE LAUNCH PAD AT UNIVERSITY OF MIAMI – June 3, 2010
MELBOURNE, Fla. (May 5, 2010) — Small businesses receive more than $2 billion in federal grants and contracts each year through the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) programs. The Technological Research and Development Authority (TRDA) and the Launch Pad at Toppel at the University of Miami will be co-hosting a proposal preparation training workshop on June 3, 2010.

The workshop will cover Phase I — Proposal Preparation and features Jim Greenwood, president of Greenwood Consulting Group, Inc.
Jim Greenwood, president of Greenwood Consulting Group, Inc., is a nationally recognized SBIR facilitator and has instructed thousands of workshop and conference attendees across the U.S. in how to successfully increase the chances of winning grant awards from federal agencies.
Jim helped develop and manage the Los Alamos Small Business Center, one of the first technology incubators in the Southwest U.S. He has served as a grant proposal reviewer for the National Science Foundation and for the U.S. Army’s Quality Awards, which recognizes small business projects with the greatest private and military potential. Jim and his wife Gail received the prestigious Tibbetts Award from the U.S. Small Business Administration for their contributions to SBIR counseling and training, and have been nationally recognized for their work in developing successful small business technology incubators.
Lewis Parrish, Technology Transfer Associate at ASRC Aerospace Corporation, will present an overview of NASA’s Innovative Partnerships and SBIR Programs.
“The SBIR program is an excellent resource for qualified, small businesses to fund their research and development of new technologies,” said Chester Straub, TRDA executive director. “We’re very excited to provide these entrepreneurs with tips and information to receive funding assistance.”
