(FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: WEST PALM BEACH, FL)
A Palm Beach County pharmaceutical company is expanding its operations and creating new jobs after receiving business expansion assistance from the Business Development Board of Palm Beach County (BDB) and financial assistance from the Town of Jupiter Economic Development Fund and the City of Palm Beach Gardens.
Sancilio and Company, Inc. (SCI), with corporate headquarters located at 3874 Fiscal Court, Suite 200, Rivera Beach, FL 33404 (
www.sancilio.com) is a locally owned pharmaceutical and product development company focused on both branded and generic pharmaceutical products. SCI currently operates two facilities: a main office, production and warehouse in Rivera Beach and a 4,500 sq. ft. research laboratory in Palm Beach Gardens. Currently, SCI employs 25 people. Up to 25 new jobs will be created over the next year with a wage115% of the county average.
"The growth and advancement of our company will now exceed our initial timelines in terms of personnel, as well as additional capacity for both our manufacturing and analytical business units, " said Dr. Frederick D. Sancilio, president and founder of SCI. "The help that has been given to us by the BDB, the Town of Jupiter and the City of Palm Beach Gardens has allowed us to advance our plans by approximately two years. We look forward to working with these groups going forward on additional projects."
The expansion will allow SCI to significantly increase the size of both its current FDA-registered laboratory as well as its manufacturing facilities providing the capacity to launch 10 different product lines and increase its service offerings to customers on a contract basis.
"SCI has been a valuable member of our life science community in Palm Beach County providing jobs in scientific research and manufacturing", said Kelly Smallridge, president and CEO of the Business Development Board of Palm Beach County. "This expansion will not only create more jobs, but it will contribute to our regional economy as well."
SCI has been awarded a $350,000 loan from the Town of Jupiter Economic Development Fund. The loan funding will be primarily invested in the SCI multi-use production facility in Rivera Beach where approximately 5 to 7 jobs will filled in 2009. This facility will be a pharmaceutical manufacturing and development facility and will consist of a 13 room, 2,600 sq. ft. FDA-approved pharmaceutical manufacturing suite.
The assistance provided by the Town of Jupiter Economic Development Fund will allow Sancilio and Company to increase its current manufacturing capacity for both pharmaceutical and Omega-3 products.
The City of Palm Beach Gardens has awarded SCI a $350,000 loan to enhance the company's drug testing facility. Approximately 18 jobs will be created in the company's Palm Beach Gardens facility by 2010. The growth of the facility will allow the lab to keep pace with SCI manufacturing requirements as well as continue to increase the level of service offered to contract customers on a fee for service basis.
The Business Development Board has been working with SCI since 2006 with its planned expansion by reviewing company needs and exploring different funding options. The BDB estimates the total economic impact of the SCI expansion project to be $14.3 Million.
The Town of Jupiter established the $3 million Economic Development Fund in 2006 to support local life science and technology industry development. The Economic Development Fund Advisory Board is made up of local industry leaders and experts who established funding criteria and process applications. Currently, the Board has eight members from a variety of organizations and industries including the Business Development Board of Palm Beach County, Inc.
